Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, Karakorum, Asia
22 Days + Arrival and Departure
From 4.290 USD
The Impossible Mountain, the Wild Mountain or the Mountain of Mountains are only some of the synonyms of K2; these undoubtedly reflect its mythical status in the history of mountaineering. Our journey will take us directly to its base, where we will feel an overflow of our emotions when we see this legendary mountain accompanied by a multitude of other giants of the Karakoram Range. Walking this area, we will feel that we are in the magical land of the eight-thousands. From Concordia at 4600 m, where 14 glaciers converge from all directions, we will see K2, the second highest mountain in the world at 8611 m; also called Chogori, flanked by Gasherbrum I (also known as Hidden Peak, 8068 m), Gasherbrum II (8035 m) and Broad Peak (8051 m). This vast mountain world also includes more than a dozen 7000-metre peaks, such as Chogolisa, Baltoro Kangri, Muztagh Tower and Masherbrum. This trekking route is one of the mountain classics and for experts the most impressive in the world. We will drive along the spectacular Karakoram road along the Indus to Skardu, the "gateway to the Karakoram Mountains". The vehicles will take us to Askole, the starting point of the walk to K2. From here we walk over Paiju and the Baltoro Glacier to Concordia and from there to the K2 base camp, where we will set up our tents. To finish we will make our way back to Askole to fly back to Islamabad from Skardu.
